Rapper Goes Into Specifics Regarding Mixtape beats 12:00PM ET December 28, 2009 Contributor : Nadine Graham
Lil Wayne has a tendency to go hard over other rapper's beats. So much so that, fans often feel as though he fires shots at the artist whose track it was originally. In footage from the Nino Brown 2 documentary, which primarily focuses on Lil' Wayne "at work", he comments on why he takes advantage of these gently used beats in the first place: "I don't like to do real songs up there, because the producers be wanting their money. So just do sh-- that's already out, because it's easier that way." More interesting is the stance Wayne takes against the school of thought that pits him against any artist whose instrumental he's rhyming over.
"'You killed that n---a on his own song!' That's not the intentions, brother. No, I did not kill nobody on their own song. I like the song; that's why I killed it. I didn't kill them. I'm not even rapping like them."
He does however fire a shot at Jay, which is a sentiment people have been alluding to for a while now- Wayne's motivation is going at Jay-Z's head. Before rapping over No I.D.'s "D.O.A." instrumental, Wayne specifies:
"I killed their song, though. So, Jay-Z, I'm about to kill your song."
