My Hip Hop News: Pharrell, Jay-Z
Rapper/Producer will join legendary composers Hans Zimmer and Heitor Pereira in creating the score for the animated film Despicable Me.
According to Collider.com, Pharrell has already begun scoring the music for the film and he has already written the title track for the film which can be heard in the teaser trailer.
“I love cartoons and animation, and I’ve never seen such incredible 3-D CGI. To score Despicable Me along with Hans and Heitor and write original songs for the film is a dream come true,” said Williams in a press release.
Despicable Me will feature the voices of Steve Carrell, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, and more. A release date for the film has yet to be released.
In other Hip Hop news, rapper has been nominated for five awards at this years NAACP Image Awards.
Although Jay-Z is in the lead as far as nominations are concerned, he shares that lead with Maxwell who is also nominated for five awards.
Both Jay-Z and Maxwell were nominated in the category of outstanding male artist and outstanding album.
The 2010 NAACP Image Awards will air on February 26 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
